Special Council Meeting report

September 21, 2007 5:04 PM

As anticipated, our call for a referendum on the new joint Chief Executive was defeated with all the Conservatives and Labour voting against us.

We also asked that the Special Council meeting form into a committee in order that the subject could be debated properly, Again, we all voted for it and the all Conservatives and Labour voted against.

Finally, there was a vote on the adoption of the County Council's Chief Executive. We voted against it, the Conservatives and Labour voted it in.

(All votes were 29 Con & 2 Lab versus 5 Lib Dem).

To watch the debate in full, follow the link here and view the Special Council meeting from 11th September.

The subject is debated further by the Citizens Panel on 19th September, also available on this web link.
