The White Hart

A petition has been started to Bring Back the White Hart to Brentwood following the Sugar Hut fire.

Brentwood Liberal Democrats have heard from many people who now consider this to be the opportune time to look again at the building and try to restore it to how it once was. The building is an important part of Brentwood's history, character and heritage dating back to at least 1480, and that it's original features should be restored.

Cllr Karen Chilvers, who is leading the campaign, said:

"I certainly remember the furore at the time that The White Hart became Sugar Hut and not being alone in being upset that the White Hart deer had been thrown in a skip and not gifted to the Brentwood Museum as many other historic items from the town have been.

"Another issue is the blocking of the courtyard, which is the most historic part of the building, to all except those enjoying the night club. This is something which we believe should be accessible to all."

You can sign the petition by following the link below (please note, you will need to register on this site to sign but, don't worry, we won't bombard you with emails!
