Planning: Brentwood Lib Dems NOT for hire

March 12, 2013 9:03 AM

In response to the Daily Telegraph article "Councillors for hire who give firms planning advice" that exposes councillors who charge consultancy fees of up to £20,000 to developers, Brentwood Liberal Democrat councillors would like to make it clear that they have never been, are not and never will be "for hire" to developers.

Cllr Karen Chilvers, Planning Lead for the group on Brentwood Borough Council, says:

"This sort of activity gives all councillors a bad name, so we just want to state categorically that this is something we would never do. We follow due process and work with those who elected us to represent them properly.

"We do not get involved in advising or cosying up to developers - end of."
