Elsewhere, there were wins for Brentwood First with Jo Squirrel in Ingrave, Herongate and West Horndon and for Labour's Gareth Barrett in Brentwood South.

The end result is that Brentwood Council is now made up of 18 Tories and a combined opposition of 19 councillors (11 Lib Dems, 4 Brentwood First, 3 Labour and an independent) and the council is in NOC.

However, negotiations are underway today between the opposition parties with the objective of reaching a governing agreement.
