Liberal Democrats believe that every child deserves the opportunity to get on in life, which is why we have delivered 15 hours of free childcare for all 3 and 4 year olds and 40 per cent of 2 year olds.

Thousands of families across England have taken up the offer with:

  • Around 3,900 children benefitting in Norfolk, Thurrock and Southend-on-Sea.

  • More than 3,600 children benefitting in Newcastle upon Tyne, South Tyneside and Durham.

  • More than 2,100 children benefitting in South Gloucestershire, Plymouth and Bath and North East Somerset.

  • Around 3,400 children benefitting in Rutland, Lincolnshire and Derby.

  • Around 2,300 children benefitting in Stockport, Warrington and Trafford.

  • More than 2,400 children benefitting in Bracknell Forest, Oxfordshire and Brighton and Hove.

  • Around 3,800 children benefitting in Barnsley, Rotherham and Kingston Upon Hull.

  • Around 5,200 children benefitting in Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Coventry.

With many more places available to children, families can use this website to check their eligibility and find free services in their area.

Nick said:

"All the evidence shows that poorer children will already be behind their better off classmates from the very first day at school.

"But we know that good quality childcare can actually reduce this gap and help build a fairer society where every child is given the best chance to succeed in life."
