EU / UK flagsThe former Political Editor of the East Anglian Daily Times backs the United Kingdom remaining in the EU. Graham Dines says:

"I shall be voting and campaigning to remain a member of the European Union. I believe it is in the best interests of the UK as a whole to be making decisions at the heart of Europe rather than being an impotent by-stander watching from the sidelines.

"The East of England has prospered from being part of the EU, especially the agriculture and horticulture industries which since 2004 have been able to employ hardworking migrants from Eastern Europe.

"The region's future success will depend on the ability of the technology sectors in Suffolk, Essex and Cambridge to have unfettered access to the European Single Market. Two of Suffolk Coastal's largest employers, the Port of Felixstowe and BT at Martlesham, must not be hampered by the inevitable trade barriers which will be erected if we quit the EU."
