Brentwood Liberal Democrats have announced a superb collection of candidates for the 2011 local council elections.

Cllr David Kendall said:

"I am proud to announce a list of twelve excellent candidates who have a wealth of experience and enthusiasm between them. We also have an age range from 18 to 70+, a balance of gender and a rich mix of backgrounds."

"We have two experienced councillors seeking re-election (Cllr Karen Chilvers in Brentwood West & Cllr Vicky Davies in Pilgrims Hatch) and James Sapwell looking to hold the Brentwood North seat that will shortly be vacated by retiring councillor Reg Straw."

"Trevor Ellis, Malcolm Featherston, Linda Price and Cyril Young are having second consecutive attempts to take Brentwood South, Shenfield, Ingrave, Herongate & West Horndon and Warley after a strong showing at last year's elections - an election that, with up to 20% swings, may have been different had it not been on a general election day."

"We also have June Spencer in Hutton East who is a strong candidate having been a council officer and gaining a swing in Hutton Central last year and Bobbie Hall in Tipps Cross, who would make an excellent councillor for the villages with her wealth of experience."

"Our new candidates are Lucy Costello, a young woman who is becoming very active in Brentwood, in Brizes & Doddinghurst, Steve Tyrrell, a long term Hutton North resident who is standing in his own ward.

"Finally,we have our youngest candidate, Ingatestone's Kristiana Papi, who hopes to gain the seat where she lives. Her vote will be her first ever opportunity to vote at the age of 18."

Liberal Democrats are set to take a number of seats at these elections as Brentwood residents grow more disenchanted with the local Conservative and Labour parties each day.

UPDATE: Due to work commitments, Lucy Costello will not be standing in Brizes & Doddinghurst, Nina Cutbush is now our candidate for this ward.

Due to the resignation of a Conservative councillor due to ill health, Colin Brown is our candidate for the by-election in Ingatetone, Fryerning and Mountnessing.
