Brandon Lewis, former leader of the council, has resigned from his Hutton South seat.

A by-election will be held on Thursday 4th June, to coincide with the European and County elections.

This is the second by-election in the Hutton South ward in the last 7 months, the last being caused by the surprise resignation of former Tory Mayor, Frank Kenny. Residents will be electing a councillor for only 11 months, as Mr Lewis' vacated seat will need to be contested again in May 2010.
