The Liberal Democrats fully accept the Government decision to postpone the Borough Council Elections until next year.

With the country facing an unprecedented crisis with COVID -19, local elections were an unnecessary distraction when fighting this virus and saving lives is far more important.

Our candidates thank you for your support, donations and the time you spent talking to them on the doorsteps.

Our current councillors can still be contacted in times of need. We believe those councillors whose terms would have ended in 2020 will now continue until 2021 and then those seats will be elected for a three year term. Their contact details are HERE.

Here are just 5 things we can all do to make a positive difference in our community at this difficult time:

  1. Think of others, consider your actions and be kind
  2. Connect and reach out to your neighbours - share phone numbers and stay in touch
  3. Make the most of local online groups
  4. Support vulnerable or isolated people
  5. Share accurate information and advice from services like NHS Online
