Opposition leaders celebrate their wins on election night
The Brentwood Accord includes all the former opposition councillors

Tonight, an historic annual council meeting saw the Tories pushed in to opposition by the Liberal Democrats, Brentwood First and Labour groups with the independent councillor.

Cllr Barry Aspinell (Lib Dem) is now Leader of the Council, Cllr William Lloyd (Brentwood First) is Deputy Leader and there are key positions for a number of Lib Dem councillors - although the committees have been shared amongst the parties.

Their vow is to take the difficult decisions the Tories haven't made, to make the coucil fully transparent and to do what is right for Brentwood residents.

Brentwood now has a non-Tory Mayor for the first time in ten years as Cllr Vicky Davies was elected Mayor of Brentwood, with Cllr Roger Keeble (Independent) as Deputy Mayor.
