Brentwood Festival could showcase our town
Brentwood residents are, rightly, proud of their town and recent competitions, such as Brentwood's Got Talent, has shown a wide variety of skills that should be celebrated. So, Cllr David Kendall, Leader of the Liberal Democrat group, is calling for Brentwood to have its own town show to highlight what the community can offer.
Many other local towns, such as Chelmsford and Dagenham, already hold popular community shows and festivals that draw in thousands of people. Something similar in Brentwood would surely showcase all the talents and different interests our community can offer across a whole range of interests including music, literature and the arts.
The idea arose when David, along with Cllr Karen Chilvers and other Councillors, had a recent discussion with Roger Davinson, Chief Executive of the Brentwood Leisure Trust. Cllr Kendall has since spoken to Mr Davinson about moving the idea forward and he has given it his backing.
"If a show or festival is going to happen it will need the full support of the Borough Council to drive it forward. I will be looking to get cross-party support for a feasibility study to be undertaken to see what the options are.
"I am sure there will be many obstacles along the way but if the people of Brentwood embrace the idea then I hope we will see such a show become a reality".
