Brentwood North: Gritting where Tories dare not tread

Vine Way was gritted by Brentwood North's Lib Dem councillors tonight, ahead of the severe weather predicted for the next few days.
County Cllr Barry Aspinell, Cllr Ross Carter, Cllr Philip Mynott and Cllr James Sapwell have constantly asked the Tory administration to grit this road as residents become stranded, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. So, in sub zero temperatures, the councillors headed into their ward and hand-gritted the road for grateful residents.
Cllr Carter said:
"It's clear that if you wait for the Tory administration to listen to ward councillors you wait a long time so we decided to take direct action and do it ourselves."
