The Tories, who axed the Town Centre Forum when the took control from the Lib Dems, have now decided to set up a new Town Forum after a 10-year hiatus.

Lib Dem Leader Cllr Barry Aspinell said:

"I am pleased that the administration have decided to act upon their meetings with the interested parties and my motion to Full Council regarding the night time economy and include stakeholders, local interest groups and town centre members in a group but I find it ironic that Cllr Hossack, as a member of the Conservatives that took control from the Lib-Dem administration in 2004, was a voting member that axed the very popular and effective Brentwood Town Forum, as they believed it was unnecessary and would not achieve anything worthwhile."

"We look forward to contributing and Cllr Philip Mynott, Brentwood North, will be our representative on the group.

"I just wish they had not taken the group away in the first place in their hunger to sweep the Lib Dem administration away, but glad they have now seen sense and are re-establishing this worthwhile group."
