Calls for urgent action on Devils Head crossroad

4 Aug 2011

Lib Dem County Councillor David Kendall has asked once again for urgent action to be taken to improve the safety for users of the dangerous Devil's Head cross roads in Warley. His latest call follows yet another accident at the junction last week in which signage was so badly damaged that the crossroads sign was literally ripped out of the ground and left on it's side.

Cllr Kendall had a meeting on June 30th with the new Cabinet Member for Highways Cllr Tracey Chapman and explained the history of the Devil's Head junction and the call for action to be taken over many years. He also highlighted the urgent need to get the VAS (Vehicle Activated Signs) at the junction connected as they were still not working despite being installed over two years ago.

Speaking about the issue Cllr Kendall said "How many more accidents do we have to have at this dangerous junction before something is done to improve it? I have now told Cllr Tracey Chapman about this latest accident and have asked for urgent action to be taken to make this junction safer asap. I believe the County Council needs to look again at it's spending priorities and allocate resources to improve dangerous junctions like Devil's Head asap"
