2008: William Hunter Way protests

The William Hunter Way planning application, the biggest planning matter to hit our town for decades, will now NOT be heard by the full council of 37 members. This is despite an extraordinary council meeting being called for the 11th September and the moving of the Overview & Scrutinty meeting on that night due to its time sensitivity - now an irrelevant point in full council terms.

Instead, a special planning meeting (of just 15 councillors) will decide the fate of our town.

The Managing Director called in a Queens Counsel (at taxpayer's expense) to advise on this matter.

Cllr Barry Aspinell has opposed the move, arguing that ALL councillors should have their say on such an important matter.
