Brentwood West's Liberal Democrat Councillors are to lobby the Highways Agency for noise barriers for the A12 as the noise by neighbours, particularly in Selwood Road, Talbrook and Spital Lane, has now become a real problem.

Borough Cllr Karen Chilvers and County Cllr David Kendall are leading the campaign for those who neighbour the A12 and have seen the level of noise increase significantly since the road was raised six years ago.

A petition and survey have been started so they can form a case that will be presented to the Highways Agency in

September. Cllr Chilvers said:

"We need to know what effect the sound is having on residents in roads such as Selwood Road, Talbrook, Belvedere Road, Spital Lane, Brook Road, Wansford Close, Link Way Road and other areas of the Homesteads so we can present evidence.

"We know that many residents are unable to use their gardens now and it is a real problem for them. Brentwood Council have been taking readings of the noise levels and I would urge residents to visit my website (www.karenchilvers.mycouncillor.org.uk) for the petition and survey or contact me for a paper copy".
