County Councillor helps communities prepare for a cold snap
County Cllr David Kendall did his bit to help snow stranded communities by delivering salt and grit bags for use during the snow and ice.
Although Brentwood provides an allocation of salt bags, they will not deliver to residents and it falls to residents and councillors to collect and deliver their allocation.
Cllr Karen Chilvers, Brentwood West, said:
"Although I am grateful for an allocation of the salt and grit bags, it would be impossible for me to do this heavy work or transport it safely, so I am grateful to my County Councillor taking a day off work and helping my residents in West. I'm not the only councillor who is physically unable to perform such tasks and I know David did the same in Pilgrims Hatch at Cllr Vicky Davies' request"
Community groups around Brentwood West were contacted by the councillors to ask if they had requirements and salt/grit has been provided to those areas that have a particularly difficult time when it snows, such as those on a steep incline or in side roads.
Cllr Chilvers added:
"This was only possible as Cllr Kendall has a, now very messy, van for his job and it is beyond the call of duty. I know there are a lot of grateful residents in my ward and my thanks are on their behalf."
