Delight as Information Centre opens six days a week
Brentwood's Liberal Democrats are delighted that the decision has been taken to open the town's Information Centre six days a week, with half days on Wednesday and Saturday and full-day opening on every other day.
Cllr David Kendall asked for the Information Centre to be opened on a Saturday back in January which resulted in a trial Saturday opening. Following a discussion at July's Policy Board he repeated his call, with Lib Dem colleague Cllr Karen Chilvers suggesting closure on another day of the week instead of Saturday.
Cllr Chilvers said:
"This is a sensible move, the trial showed that there was a clear requirement for the Information Centre to be open on a Saturday and we have pushed to make this happen.
"Wednesday was clearly shown to be the quietest day of the week so it makes sense to close for a half day and transfer resources to a Saturday morning in addition."
Cllr Kendall said:
"My original call was to meet the needs of residents during the High Street improvements, but the trial showed that there is a long-term need for the centre to be open on Saturdays."
"I'm pleased to see the administration has responded positively to our call."
