Former councillor Karen fights on with Brook Street roundabout signage campaign

Karen Chilvers, former Lib Dem councillor for Brentwood West, is keeping her promise to local people and fighting on for a review of the signage on the Brook Street roundabout.

Karen started the campaign in the winter of 2010 when a number of residents, including driving instructors and a resident who had a serious accident there, raised concerns about the signage from the south into Brentwood, passing under the M25. A site visit with the Route Management team saw them agreeing that the signage did not give enough room for motorists to move over and should be subject to a formal review.

Karen said: "I fought for a formal site visit and was delighted when the route manager agreed. He actually saw the problem straight away and asked me to pull together a dossier of supporting evidence and provide this when the M25 widening was finished so he could ask for a review.

"I have around 30 individually written letters and emails from residents, which carries more weight than just names on a petition, all saying essentially the same thing. I have now sent those off to him asking for action."

"Although I may not be a councillor now, many people put their trust in me to fight for this on their behalf and I am happy to see it through, taking direct and meaningful action for them."
