Garden grab plan ousted
A PLAN to build a low-slung property in a back garden has been unanimously rejected in the face of huge concerns it could have set a dangerous precedent for the erosion of green spaces.
The application to build a single-storey property in the rear of 12 Western Avenue was met with derision from all sides at Wednesday's planning committee.
Ward member and planning member Cllr Ross Carter said: "The area behind Western Avenue and Waterloo Road is an area of low fences and open gardens.
"One look at the plans really backs up that this is another dwelling in a back garden and not an extension by any description.
"Approving this plan would set quite serious borough-wide implications and a very dangerous precedent."
