Karen Chilvers elected to Regional Committee
Karen Chilvers, local campaigner and former councillor, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the East of England Liberal Democrats.
The Liberal Democrats elect all their regional representatives and Karen was elected to one of the ten places in third place across the region (comprising of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk) by her party colleagues. She was also elected unopposed to a position on the Regional Campaigns Committee.
Mark Valladares, secretary of the regional party, welcomed her election saying:
"Karen is a highly-respected campaigner, and we're looking forward to working with her."
Cllr Ross Carter, chair of Brentwood & Ongar Liberal Democrats, said:
"Karen has really proved herself as a campaigner with a clear track record of fighting for Brentwood. She has also taken a leading role in the campaign to tackle A12 noise which has sprung up in many other parts of the region. Karen is someonewho is well aware of the challenges the country faces and I am delighted that she has been elected to the regional Committee.
"I know she will ensure that the voices of Brentwood residents are heard"
