Following on from a statement by Eric Pickles MP, quoted in the local press as supporting Brentwood retailers in their efforts to get compensation from Essex County Council for the lost business they have suffered due to the High Street refurbishments, Cllr David Kendall has taken action to find out the mechanics of claiming for lost trade.

Cllr Kendall has asked for information about the contact point and the information that needs to be provided for this purpose. He said:

"Some retailers have really suffered during the High Street improvements and, as Eric Pickles made this statement, I assume that the County Hall Conservatives are prepared for some compensation claims. I will keep retailers updated with any news."
