Lib Dem duo petition over traffic noise

THE Lib Dems' Brentwood West borough councillor Karen Chilvers and county councillor David Kendall are now lobbying the Highways Agency for noise-reduction measures and have launched a petition.

The measures could including mounds to block the traffic noise, special "soundproofing" fencing or resurfacing the road with a quieter tarmac.

Cllr Chilvers said: "Residents simply want to be able to enjoy their homes and gardens without the constant hum of traffic. Although some noise is expected in roads with close proximity to an A road, this has now just got beyond the acceptability level."

Brentwood Borough Council has committed itself to carrying out another noise survey in September.
