Lib Dems call in Formula One Autocentre application

Liberal Democrat Councillors in Brentwood North are continuing to fight for their residents by referring the latest application from Formula One Autocentres, at the junction of Ongar Road and Burland Road, to November's planning committee to be debated in public by councillors.

Liberal Democrats previously referred the issue of the side door facing Burland Road being constructed without permission to committee and successfully fought for enforcement action, having been the only party to oppose the Formula One application back in 2008.

Councillor Philip Mynott said:

"Councillors face a challenging situation from the applicant, who has on the one hand chosen to contest the enforcement action on the Burland Road side door ratified by Brentwood's Planning Committee earlier in the year, while applying to close off the Wates Way entrance out on to Burland Road with either a fence or gate. The applicant has also launched an appeal against the enforcement action councillors unanimously wished to take".

Councillor Ross Carter added:

"The new application has been recommended for approval, but residents of Burland Road and Ongar Road still hold many concerns. These need to be aired in open session and we look forward to the opportunity to debate these with other members."

"We hope that this will be heard at the next Planning Committee meeting on Wednesday 10th November".

The referral comes less than a month after Liberal Democrats were the only party to stand up for the residents of Brentwood North by voting against the plans for 203 houses at the controversial Highwood Hospital site a quarter of a mile down Ongar Road.
