Lib Dems turn council chamber Pink!
Our councillors were looking pretty in pink last night at full council for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
L-R Cllrs Philip Mynott, Ross Carter, Nigel Clarke, James Sapwell, Vicky Davies and Barry Aspinell were sporting pink ties, shirts and scarves to create awareness of the awareness month.
Around, 550,000 people living in the UK have had a diagnosis of breast cancer and every year, 500,000 people are told they have the disease (that's one every ten minutes) with 12,000 people dying from it anually. It's the second biggest cause of death from cancer in women and the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in women under 35 (source).
Cllr Ross Carter, who championed "pink night", said:
"We were all delighted to show our support for this campaign and hope it encourages others to have pink events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month."
