Meet the new councillors

A week ago, Brentwood elected FOUR new Lib Dem councillors and we introduce them here:

Cllr Sarah Cloke - Brentwood West

Cllr Sarah Cloke

Sarah Cloke has been elected as councillor for Brentwood West with a majority of 174 (48% of the vote) and will work alongside borough councillors Karen Chilvers and Dominic Naylor and County Cllr David Kendall.

Sarah, a scientist, lives in Brentwood West with her children and is well known in the community. She is employed as a manager in a global pharmaceutical company.

Cllr Andy Fryd - Shenfield

Cllr Andy Fryd

Andrew Fryd has been elected as councillor for Shenfield with a majority of 215 (54% of the vote) and will work alongside County Cllr Barry Aspinell.

He attended Hedley Walter School in the 1960s and has lived in Brentwood all his life, the last 30 years in Shenfield, and has raised three sons here. He is a licensed taxi driver, operating out of Shenfield station. Prior to this, he worked in local government for 30 years.

Cllr Jay Laplain - Warley

Cllr Jay Laplain

Jay Laplain has been elected as councillor for Warley with a majority of 371 (49% of the vote) and will work alongside borough councillors Nigel Clarke and Mark Haigh and County Cllr David Kendall.

Jay lives in Brentwood with his wife Vanessa and is granddad to six grandaughters. He is employed as a project manager at a global communications company based in Brentwood. He has worked in the area for 15 years and moved here from East London 13 years ago.

Cllr Mark Lewis - Brentwood North

Councillor Mark Lewis

Mark Lewis has been elected as councillor for Brentwood North with a majority of 517 (57% of the vote) and will work alongside borough councillors Alison Fulcher and Philip Mynott and County Cllr Barry Aspinell.

Mark has lived in Brentwood for over 30 years and has raised a family here. He is managing director of a business in the City of London.

Together with his wife, he runs the Escape Animal Sanctuary in Pilgrms Hatch, rescuing and caring for abandoned, abused and neglected animals from horses to cats!

For the last eleven years, Mark has been Chair of Essex-based Rankin's Cricket Club and actively promotes participation in sport.
