Lisa Barrett, Rural Candidate and local mum, has reacted angrily to the Tories' refusal to give a clear answer on whether a crossing will be installed at the junction of Ashwells Road. Mores Lane and Ongar Road.

An email from the Tory cabinet member blamed the election "purdah" period for not being able to give a response.

Lisa said:

"The Tories knew when purdah started and if they were going to given an affirmative answer I suspect they would have made sure the announcement was made before the election was called and ensured it was in all their leaflets, especially in Brentwood Rural. So, I sense we are looking at a negative response after the election when they are safely re-elected.

"If elected, I will carry on fighting for this crossing and won't take no for an answer."
