Opening of the newly redeveloped Shenfield Library

5 Feb 2025

Local Lib Dem Councillors have welcomed the opening of the newly redeveloped Shenfield Library on 05 February 2025.

County Councillor Barry Aspinell said: "I'm delighted to hear that Shenfield Library will be opening again soon. I know how highly residents in Hutton and Shenfield value their Library and have missed its presence in the High Street."

He added: "I'm grateful to the staff at the temporary site at Bishops Hill ACL and the Friends of Shenfield Library for supporting this service."

Councillor David Worsfold (LD - Shenfield) said: "The new library promises to be a great asset to Shenfield. That we have a library at all is down to the great community campaign to save it from closure."

Cllr Worsfold added: "The Friends of Shenfield Library should be very proud of what they have achieved and deserve to take centre stage at its opening."

Councillor Ben Rigby (LD - Hutton East) said: "I'm delighted that, after its temporary stay at the Bishops Hill ACL site in Hutton, Hutton's residents will be able to use their library at the Shenfield site again."

"My thanks to the campaigners who ensured that the library was saved from potential closure in previous years and to the volunteers who have supported the library during its stay in Hutton," he added.
