Opposition to Conservatives still in force locally

12 May 2010

Cllr David Kendall is assuring residents that the Liberal Democrats are still very much the opposition on Brentwood and Essex councils and will continue to hold the local Tories to account, despite the national Liberal Democrat-Conservative coalition government that is now in place.

He said:

"Nationally, our two parties are working together for the greater good of the country and I welcome the decision as this has seen many of the policies at the heart of our General Election manifesto come to fruition.

"Locally, however, we still have major issues with Tory policy on Brentwood and Essex Councils and, as the only opposition group on both councils, we will continue to fight for the commitments we made in our Liberal Democrat manifesto and hold both Tory administrations to account."
