Lib Dem County Councillors in Essex have joined forces and launched a campaign for 'Safer School Crossings' in Essex.

This campaign has started after another tragedy in Colchester involving a child walking to school. The County Council have refused to provide funding to improve safety at that particular junction, and review others across Essex where improvements are needed.

To get this discussed at the next full Council meeting of ECC, the petition requires 8,000 signatures from residents in Essex.

County Cllr David Kendall said:

Cllr David Kendall, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate
Cllr Barry Aspinell

"I am sure that everyone wants children to have a safe journey to school and this will force the Conservative administration to take this seriously.

"We have some concerns in Brentwood over the path towards St Peter's School across London Road and St Mary's School in Shenfield so I am happy to support this cross-Essex campaign."

County Cllr Barry Aspinell has recently been very active in Shenfield in trying to make school journey's safer and added:

"I hope that everyone will make sure they sign this petition so we can get some action on the issue."
