Safety Victory on Hanging Hill Lane/Pondfield Lane Bend

30 Jan 2013

After a long campaign by Lib Dem County Councillor David Kendall and Brentwood South wards Borough councillors some serious safety measures are now going to be finally installed at the dangerous bend in Hanging Hill Lane / Pondfield Lane. These messures were agreed at this weeks Local Highways Panel meeting (28/1/13) and include:

* Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) to be placed in both directions to highlight the bend at night.

* Adding double white (no overtaking) centre lines around the bend.

* Adding a yellow backed chevron board.

* Add yellow backing boards to the existing chevrons

* To increase the radius and widen the road through the bend by utilising some of the footway/verge on the inside of the bend.

Cllr Kendall said:

"I was delighted to get the support of the panel for these much needed safety measures at this dangerous location. Now that some serious investment has finally been committed I look forward to seeing these improvements being put in place as quickly as possible. I would like to thank the ward members and residents for their efforts over a long period of time for campaigning on this issue and keeping it in the spotlight".
