Lib Dems Cllr Karen Chilvers and Cllr David Kendall are supporting a #ShopWarley Day on Saturday 2nd February 2013, along with independent Warley councillor William Lloyd to support local traders on Warley Hill, Kings Road and Crescent Road.

Local shops and residents are concerned following the announcement that a new Tesco Express may be opening and affect their trade.

Brentwood South County Cllr Kendall (covering Warley ward) said:

"Shop Warley Day aims to get people using their local shops and exploring what they can find when they shop at community retailers rather than big supermarket chains. It really is a case of "use them or lose them" and we are hoping the community will come together on Saturday and support each other.

"Karen, William and I will be around from 10.30am for a photo call in the bus stop by Victoria Road and then we are going off shopping together!"

Cllr Chilvers added:

"I know many residents do support local shops, but this is a special day to show support for Warley retailers in our community. I'd be willing to bet you can discover something new in your local area - possibly where bigger shops have

failed you!"
