Steve Tyrell will be much missed by his Lib Dem friends

With great sadness, we are sorry to announce that Steve Tyrrell, Lib Dem campaigner, candidate in 2011 & 2012, and a good friend and supporter of us all, passed away yesterday after a battle with cancer.

Cllr David Kendall, a good friend of Steve's, said:

"Steve and I were pretty good buddies and he was a pillar of strength and constant provider of practical support to many of us.

"Steve had a great sense of humour and was just one of those all round good guys. It's a real tragedy that he has died at such a young age and there is a real hole in the Brentwood & Ongar Lib Dem family now."

Steve lived in Hutton, standing in his home ward in 2011 and in Brentwood South in 2012 where he grew up. He was treasurer of Brentwood South & Warley Liberal Democrats and actively delivering leaflets until just a few months ago whilst he bravely fought the disease.

Steve also attended the rally against the sell off of Brentwood Town Hall in 2011 and, therefore, was clearly a part in saving this building.

Steve leaves behind three grown up sons and a lot of friends. Our thoughts are very much with them at the moment. He will be sorely missed by us all.
