Sugar Hut withdraws 7am licensing application during hearing

Cllr Mark Lewis, Brentwood North, is objecting to Sugar Hut's 7am closing time application

In a shock move during the hearing, and in the face of over 200 objections, the Sugar Hut's solicitor withdrew their application to trade until 7am in Brentwood High Street.

Ward councillor Mark Lewis, who was at this morning's hearing ready to speak in opposition to the application, said:

"It was disappointing that the application for the 7am Sugar Hut licence was withdrawn in the middle of the licence committee process this morning. As we expect the application to be re-delivered at some stage, the uncertainty for local residents continues for the time being.

"I will continue to monitor the situation and will always fight for the best interests of local residents."

Residents should note that their objections will not be carried over so they will need to object again on any fresh applications.
