Parliamentary Candidate David Kendall said: I am delighted to supprt the Campaign for Better Transport (@CBTransport) and Confederation of Passenger Transport (@CPT_UK) as they campaign for all communities to have access to high quality sustainable transport.

They say:

"Buses are the backbone of public transport networks across the country. They account for 60% of public transport journeys and improve the connectivity of communities, tackling social and economic exclusion, as well as reducing air pollution and cutting carbon emissions. The industry also supports 250,000 jobs.

"Over the coming months those elected in this General Election will have to make crucial decisions that will shape the future of buses for passengers for years to come. These decisions are so important to deliver a service that encourages more people to take the bus that CPT and the Campaign for Better Transport have joined forces to set out the below priorities for the next government.

  • Delivering a national bus strategy that has tackling congestion and providing more reliable journey times at its core.
  • Introducing a long term funding settlement so operators can invest with confidence in zero emission buses, multi operator daily and weekly price capped ticketing and reduced travel costs for job seekers and apprentices.
  • Making passenger journeys faster and more reliable through ensuring bus-first policies feature in bids for local infrastructure funding.
  • Tackling the challenges of rural mobility through working together and with other stakeholders to deliver trials of innovative rural transport, including on demand services

David was the founder of the Brentwood Bus & Rail Users' Association and has campaigned for better rail and bus services for over 15 years.
