People buy benefits and to create a destination is to provide just that. High streets that survive offer entertainment, café society and green spaces to enjoy alongside retail. It's not enough to stick shops in a row and cross fingers - a suitable infrastructure must support access, encourage footfall flow and provide ambience.
Fly-tipping is a scourge on everyone who lives in the countryside. Fly-tippers are serious criminals. If they dump dangerous rubbish on a road, byway, bridleway or footpath they endanger drivers, riders, cyclists and walkers. If they dump it on private land the landowner suffers the expense and inconvenience of clearing it. These criminals don't care about the damage they're causing to our local environment.
The Brentwood Liberal Democrat Group is aware of a recent report involving the resignation of two Tory Councillors from their positions as Chair and Vice Chair of the Community, Health and Housing Committee. This followed allegations that senior officers at Brentwood Borough Council failed to keep Members of the Council informed of various issues within the Housing Department, and have fallen in their responsibility to implement decisions made by members of that Committee. Cllr Barry Aspinell, Leader of the Brentwood Liberal Democrat Group said: "The safety and well being of Brentwood residents is, and always has been, of the utmost importance to our group. Should it transpire there have been incidents where these governing principles have been compromised, those issues would need to be addressed urgently. I have not at this stage been provided with any evidence suggesting council officers have behaved inappropriately and it would be wrong of me to make judgements until all the facts have been clearly establ
We would like to say a very big thank you to the hundreds of residents who signed our "Save Our Libraries" petition across Brentwood. Your support and encouragement for our campaign has been amazing and it's sent a clear message to the Conservatives running Essex County Council (ECC) that you don't want your libraries closed and opening hours cut.
