A particularly unpleasant Highways Panel meeting that saw the two warring Tory party factions engage in some heated exchanges is yet to appear on the council's website, leading the Liberal Democrats to ask if the council trying to cover up the Conservative melt down that took place.

Over the last few weeks I am sure many residents will have been bemused to see the local Conservative party tearing itself apart and councillors Louise McKinlay and Russell Quirk slugging it out across the pages of the Brentwood Gazette with claims and counter claims. The bitterness and animosity has been there for all to see and there appears to be no end in sight.

Hanningfield re-arrested: Calls for independent investigation at County Council

Brentwood's Liberal Democrat County Councillors, Cllr Barry Aspinell & Cllr David Kendall, have joined the growing demand for a full, independent investigation into the financial affairs of the organisation after Lord Hanningfield (Paul White) was, according to the BBC, arrested for matters relating to fraud at the county council just days after his release from prison after serving nine weeks of a nine month sentence after his conviction for fraud at the House of Lords.
