Speaking from the Liberal Democrat conference in Bournemouth, Parliamentary Spokesman Cllr David Kendall has laughed off Eric Pickles statement that liberal democracy is "part of the Conservative family", saying that there is no family tie to the Conservative Party.

Lib Dem Leader Cllr David Kendall has welcomed the announcement made by Cllr Louise McKinlay regarding free car parking on a Saturday in all the town centre car parks up to the end of the year but says the news is long overdue and doesn't go far enough.

Lib Dem Leader Cllr David Kendall is calling on landlords to get behind the rejuvenation of Brentwood High Street by putting more investment into their buildings and making rents more competitive to try and attract a wider mix of retail outlets.

An unofficial source has revealed that the Conservative administration has finally listened to the Liberal Democrat opposition, businesses and residents of the town and agreed to free parking on Saturdays for the remainder of 2009.
