Gateway Sculpture but no Olympic Event is a "white elephant"

Lib Dem disbelief at Olympic Gateway Sculpture farce

Brentwood Lib Dems are in a state of total disbelief since Conservative councillor Phil Baker confirmed that Essex County Council would press ahead with the Olympic Gateway Sculpture at Brook Street roundabout regardless of the fact that the borough will no longer be hosting the Mountain Bike Event at the 2012 Olympics. Furthermore, the Tory administration was not able to confirm the cost of the project.

Lib Dems demand Old House is saved

The Liberal Democrat group on Brentwood Borough Council are now demanding that the Conservative Administration reverse their decision and ensure that Old House is saved for use by local community groups. This follows representations from a number of groups who are very concerned about the practicalities of moving to the Merrymeade building in Sawyers Hall Lane which they feel has poor access to public transport and would not have a cafeé.
