After a long campaign by Lib Dem County Councillor David Kendall and Brentwood South wards Borough councillors some serious safety measures are now going to be finally installed at the dangerous bend in Hanging Hill Lane / Pondfield Lane. Answers have been demanded from Essex County Council regarding the gridlock in Brentwood along the A128 from the roadworks that started this week. Cllr Kendall said: "These roadworks are planned for seven months but we simply cannot have hour-long delays until August - the effects on Brentwood's economy and the problems it will create for our residents are just too severe. "I have had calls from residents and Ingrave Parish Cllr David Harman to tell me that it has been gridlocked for most of the day with some people taking over an hour and twenty minutes to do what would normally be a 15 minute journey. I am very concerned that if this project does continue for the full seven months then the economic effects on Brentwood could be very damaging with people choosing to do their shopping and spend their leisure time elsewhere. For two days, utter chaos has been caused by visitors to the Brentwood Centre's Koi Carp show with people parking dangerously on highway verges in Elizabeth Road, Sandringham Road and surrounding areas after the centre went ahead with their show, despite being unable to open their overflow car park due to waterlogging.
